We had the best time staying here! The cabin was spacious with separate bedrooms, and the nightly bonfires were the perfect way to unwind after exploring. The taproom added a fun vibe, too! Would definitely return!

We loved the fire pit where we made s'mores, just like during our stay at another cozy place. The cabin was clean and comfortable, and it was easy to explore nearby attractions, making it a hit with the whole family, including my elderly parents.
In my wife’s opinion, a portable closet in the bedroom would enhance our stay.

A Cozy Retreat in the Heart of the Black Hills
We had an unforgettable two-night stay in the Northwoods Double Room. The friendly owners made us feel right at home, and the nightly campfire was a wonderful way to unwind. Don't miss the tasty BBQ area—it’s perfect for a romantic dinner under the stars!

We had an amazing time soaking in the nightly fires while roasting S'mores and enjoying the cozy cabin vibes. The tap room was a perfect spot to relax and unwind after a day of exploring, and the fire pit area was great for hangouts with friends. Just a heads up, though, the bed was a bit firmer than I prefer, but it didn't ruin the overall experience! 🔥

A charming, historic motel captures the spirit of the mining days, providing comfortable accommodations for our multi-generational group. Easy access to major attractions made our outings seamless, while the bonfire at night with s'mores provided a cozy end to our busy days. The well-maintained grounds and welcoming management were notable highlights that created a pleasant atmosphere for relaxation.

we had a great time at black elk resort! the northwoods double room was cozy and clean, and i loved how close it was to all the black hills activities. the standout for us was the lovely fire pit area where we enjoyed roasting hot dogs and marshmallows. marla and jim were fantastic at making us feel welcome, and their attention to detail really made our stay special.
i did think spending four dollars on a bag of ice was a bit much.

Great family getaway
We had an awesome time here! The cabins were super clean, and the fire pit at night was perfect for making smores and sharing stories with other guests. Plus, it’s really close to Mount Rushmore and Hill City. Only wished for more dining options on-site, but it didn't ruin our fun. Definitely the spot to stay with fam!

Cozy and inviting with a great community feel
I recently stayed in the Northwoods Double Room for two nights, and it was a delightful escape. The cabin was cozy and clean, and I particularly enjoyed the lovely fire pit area where everyone gathered in the evenings, roasting marshmallows and sharing stories. The owners made us feel right at home with their attentiveness and warmth, truly enhancing our experience. However, I did find that the price for a bag of ice was a bit excessive for guests.

I had a fantastic 2-night stay at Black Elk Resort in a Northwoods Double Room. The cozy cabin felt like a home away from home. The kids loved the playground, and the fire pit area was perfect for our evening s'mores. The decor added a charming touch, making the whole place welcoming. The owners were incredibly friendly and attentive, ensuring we had everything we needed. However, the road noise was noticeable in the evenings, which made it hard to unwind right away. Also, the lack of complimentary ice felt a bit inconvenient. spending four dollars on a bag seemed excessive. Overall, a great stay despite a few minor hiccups.
